5 things to know about OPD cover in a health insurance plan
1) Some illness do not require hospitalisation and can be diagnosed and treated in an Out-Patient Department (OPD) and these expenses can be significant.

2) Health insurance plan with OPD cover includes these visits to the doctor, diagnostic tests or minor surgeries.

3) In some policies OPD cover is included in the basic health plan and in others you have to purchase it separately.

4) It can be claimed as reimbursement or as a cashless facility possible in network hospital.

5) It is an ideal addition for people who are generally healthy but prone to injuries or small illnesses and senior citizens who frequent doctors.
